The Tire Lot

Questions, answered honestly — including the ones we cannot answer here.

Where an answer depends on shop policy that has not been confirmed for publication, this page says so and points you at the phone instead of inventing one.

Some answers below end with "call the shop". That is not a brush-off — it means the underlying detail has not been verified for publication, and we would rather send you to a real answer than print a guess.

Inventory and sizes

Do you have my size in stock?

Search your size on this site to see what is listed, then call the shop to confirm the tire is still on the rack before you drive over. Used tires are single items and stock changes through the day.

How do I find my tire size?

It is moulded into the sidewall of the tire you already have, and printed on the placard sticker inside the driver's door frame. A size looks like 245/45R18. Our tire guide walks through what each part means.

What if I cannot read the size on my tire?

Photograph the sidewall square on with the size readable and send it with a quote request. Someone at the shop will read it for you. If the tire is dirty, wipe it and light it at an angle so the raised letters cast a shadow.

Is the inventory on this site live?

Listings are published by the shop rather than synced automatically from a live system, so treat them as what was on the rack when the listing was last verified. Each listing shows when it was last checked. Call to confirm before you drive over.

Can you get a size you do not have?

That depends on the size and the day, and it is not something we will promise on a web page. Call the shop with the size and you will get a direct answer.

New tires

Which brands do you carry?

The shop has not confirmed a brand list for publication, so this site does not print one. Call with your size and ask what is available — that answer is current, which a published list would not be.

Do new tires come with a warranty?

Warranty terms are set by the tire manufacturer and vary by model, and the shop has not confirmed its own warranty terms for publication. Ask before you buy, and ask for the terms in writing.

What is the difference between load index and speed rating?

The number after the size is the load index — a code for the maximum weight the tire can carry. The letter is the speed rating. Both are requirements from your vehicle's door placard, not preferences.

Do I have to replace all four at once?

Not always. Tires on the same axle should match, and all-wheel-drive vehicles are stricter — some manufacturers specify a maximum tread-depth difference across all four corners in the owner's manual. Bring the vehicle and the numbers and we will tell you what makes sense.

Used tires

How much tread is left on a used tire?

Every used tire we list shows tread depth measured in 32nds of an inch at more than one point across the tread. A new passenger tire typically starts near 10/32 or 11/32, and NHTSA treats 2/32 as worn out.

How old is a used tire?

The DOT code on the sidewall tells you. The last four digits are the week and year it was built, so DOT ...3421 was built in the 34th week of 2021. We publish the code on every used listing.

Are your used tires repaired?

Repair history is recorded per tire and shown on the listing when there is any. If a listing does not say, ask about that specific tire before you buy — it is a fair question and it has a specific answer.

Can I buy just one used tire?

Often yes, and it is one of the main reasons people buy used. It needs to be close in size, type and remaining tread to the tire beside it on the same axle, which is confirmed at the shop.

Is a used tire safe?

That depends entirely on the individual tire — its age, tread, wear pattern, repairs and any damage — and on your vehicle. No web page can answer it. Have the specific tire inspected in person by a qualified tire professional before it goes on the car.

Prices and fees

How much does a tire cost?

Prices depend on the size, the condition and what is on the rack that day. The shop confirms the price directly rather than publishing one here that could be out of date by the time you read it.

Does the price include mounting and balancing?

What a price does and does not include is confirmed by the shop at the time of the quote. Always ask what is included and what is added at the counter before you agree to anything.

What payment methods do you take?

The shop has not confirmed a payment method list for publication. Call and ask before you come in.

Do you offer financing?

No financing programme has been confirmed for publication, so this site does not advertise one. Ask the shop directly.

Hours and walk-ins

What are your hours?

Sunday 8-3, Monday to Friday 8-7, and Saturday 8-5, as published on the shop's business listing. Every page shows whether the shop is open right now and when it opens next. Holiday hours are not covered by that schedule, so call before a holiday trip.

Do I need an appointment, or can I walk in?

The shop has not confirmed an appointment or walk-in policy for publication. Call before you drive over, especially if you need a specific tire held for you.

Can you do it today?

Same-day turnaround has not been confirmed for publication and depends on the day and the tire. If you need something today, calling is much faster than any web form.

Can you hold a tire for me?

Ask when you call. Used tires are single items, so a tire you saw listed this morning may be sold by the afternoon.

Location and directions

Where are you?

3261 Main St, Chula Vista, CA 91911. One location — there is no second branch and no call centre. The contact page has both Google Maps and Apple Maps links.

Do you have more than one location?

No. There is one shop, on Main Street in Chula Vista.

Do you come to me?

No mobile service has been confirmed, so this site does not offer one. Everything happens at the shop unless the shop tells you otherwise on the phone.

Spanish service

¿Hablan español?

Yes. The shop serves customers in English and Spanish, and every page of this site exists in both languages — use the language switch in the header.

Can I send my quote request in Spanish?

Yes. Write it in whichever language you prefer and say which language you would like the reply in.

Still stuck?

Call the shop during business hours — that is the fastest way to a real answer. You can also send a quote request with photos of your sidewall.
